Youth Worker 2 (Position is in Australia)

Position Title : Youth Worker 2 (Australia)

Annual Salary : $95,380 for Youth Worker 2's.

Employment Type : Full Time Position

Reports To : Case Manager

Current Areas : Bunbury, Cairns, Perth South / Peel, Toowoomba and Townsville

Required Weekly Hours:

Average 38 shift hours and 2 sleepovers per week (averaged over 12 weeks).
Overtime is managed by an hours bank system which can be paid out or taken as time back depending on the needs of the Area.

Shift Patterns:

This is a shift-based role as with any residential care provider, it is based on supporting the needs of the YP.
Shifts within Australia are predominately based on working for a period of 24 hours. This will be broken down into a period of 16 hours and 1 sleepover (8 hours).
The standard rostering will usually see a breakdown of 5 x 24 hours shifts a fortnight, which is averaged over an 84 day period. This means over the 12 week (84 days) you would expect to see an average of 5 shifts worked per fortnight.
There can be shifts that are identified as support shifts (depending on the needs of the YP).

Model of Care

The model of care within Safe Places for Childrens homes in Australia can vary from a 1:1 model of lone working, 1 staff member with 2 young people etc. This is in line with the department needs as well as the organisations Integrated Practice Framework.

Essential Position Requirements

A minimum 2 years' experience working with children and young people that have displayed extreme challenging and pain-based behaviours such as verbal aggression, physical aggression, self-injury etc within a residential setting or health and social care setting within the last 5 years;
Candidate to have experience in working one on one with children and young people that have displayed extreme challenging and pain-based behaviours ideally within a residential setting;
Completed and hold a degree level qualification in a relevant discipline would be desirable, but essentially the minimum qualification requirement would be a Level 4 diploma within a related discipline to the industry;
Ability to do shift work (Approx. 5 shifts a fortnight for full time staff), and sleeping sleepovers. Please note that shift patterns will be based on the needs of the children or young people within the home or within the Area, therefore there can be a mix of sleepovers and support shifts.;
Must have a full UK or Republic of Ireland driver's license for at least 12 months;
Able to obtain the necessary international police check and any associated area police check's & statutory state check requirements for the specific state that you will be employed within Australia;
Able to obtain the VISA requirements before entry into Australia and to have the right to work for Safe Places for Children in Australia;
Certain criteria must be met in regard to the VISA requirements, this will be dependent on you being able to obtain a Skills in Demand (SID) 482 VISA and be eligible for the Permanent Residency (after sponsorship) as set by the Australian Government (PR conditions are set by Australia Immigration Department).
