Job Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for a Year in Industry student for a 12 month paid, full-time placement, ideally taken between the second and final year of a degree (sandwich course). The successful applicant will work on real projects, applying academic knowledge to gain professional engineering experience in the rail industry.

Key Responsibilities Summary

The successful applicant will work on real projects, applying academic knowledge to gain professional engineering experience in the rail industry.

Real Project Work

Supporting ongoing projects, such as engineering design, software development, or data analysis.

Technical Tasks

Designing, testing, qualifying, or researching, depending on the field.

Collaboration

Working within multidisciplinary teams, collaborating across departments, and communicating with stakeholders.

Deliverables

Delivering presentations and reports of activities as required.

Qualities

• Strong communication.
• Able to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Proactive mindset with an appetite for learning.
• Willingness to work outside comfort zone.
• Problem solving approach.
