Responsibilities
  • Deliver well planned lessons aligned with the national curriculum for Year 6 students, covering core subjects such as literacy, mathematics-including algebra, geometry, calculus, and trigonometry- and science.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs, including those of students requiring special education support or individualized learning plans.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively through positive behavior management techniques and foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation and respect.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, including standardized testing preparations.
  • Collaborate with school staff on curriculum development initiatives and contribute to school wide educational goals.
  • Support literacy education through creative writing exercises, proofreading activities, and integrating learning technology tools to enhance engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, student work, and lesson outcomes while ensuring compliance with school policies and safeguarding procedures.
Experience
  • Proven classroom experience working with children in a primary or elementary setting, preferably within a private or independent school environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching math topics such as algebra, geometry, calculus, trigonometry, and related areas like proofing techniques and curriculum development.
  • Strong background in literacy education including creative writing, public speaking, and library services integration.
  • Familiarity with classroom management strategies that promote positive behavior and effective learning environments.
  • Experience utilizing learning technology platforms to support instruction and student engagement.
  • Knowledge of standardized testing procedures and experience tutoring students to improve academic performance.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to mentor students and collaborate effectively with colleagues on educational initiatives.
