Job Description
Workshop Service Engineer

Location: On site - Bedfordshire

A leading provider of laboratory instrumentation and technical services is seeking a Workshop Service Engineer to be based at its workshop in Bedfordshire. This role involves the maintenance, calibration, and repair of a wide range of instruments spanning multiple technologies. Full training will be provided for the successful candidate, who will join a motivated and high performing technical team.

Responsibilities
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance, calibration, and repair on a wide variety of instruments returned to the workshop
  • Providing high quality technical support to customers via telephone and email
  • Preparing accurate cost estimates for work undertaken and ensuring purchase orders are received prior to commencement
  • Completing detailed service documentation and maintaining accurate service records
  • Managing in house support tickets in line with departmental service KPIs
  • Performing maintenance, functional checks, and repairs on demonstration and loan equipment
  • Managing spare parts inventory in accordance with internal procedures and ensuring accurate reporting
  • Maintaining the workshop to meet health and safety standards and ensure a clean, organised working environment
  • Ensuring all tools and test equipment are fully operational and that any items requiring annual calibration are properly managed
  • Liaising with administrative staff to support efficient workflow and achievement of departmental KPIs
Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline (minimum requirement)
  • Hands on technical experience working with complex and sensitive equipment
  • Demonstrable customer service experience
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Self motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work independently
  • Good computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Located within south of Bedfordshire for easier commute to the offices
