Job Description
Workshop Service Engineer 
Location: On site - Bedfordshire
A leading provider of laboratory instrumentation and technical services is seeking a Workshop Service Engineer to be based at its workshop in Bedfordshire. This role involves the maintenance, calibration, and repair of a wide range of instruments spanning multiple technologies. Full training will be provided for the successful candidate, who will join a motivated and high performing technical team.
Responsibilities- Carrying out preventative maintenance, calibration, and repair on a wide variety of instruments returned to the workshop
- Providing high quality technical support to customers via telephone and email
- Preparing accurate cost estimates for work undertaken and ensuring purchase orders are received prior to commencement
- Completing detailed service documentation and maintaining accurate service records
- Managing in house support tickets in line with departmental service KPIs
- Performing maintenance, functional checks, and repairs on demonstration and loan equipment
- Managing spare parts inventory in accordance with internal procedures and ensuring accurate reporting
- Maintaining the workshop to meet health and safety standards and ensure a clean, organised working environment
- Ensuring all tools and test equipment are fully operational and that any items requiring annual calibration are properly managed
- Liaising with administrative staff to support efficient workflow and achievement of departmental KPIs
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical discipline (minimum requirement)
- Hands on technical experience working with complex and sensitive equipment
- Demonstrable customer service experience
- High level of attention to detail
- Self motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work independently
- Good computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Located within south of Bedfordshire for easier commute to the offices
