New Leaf is part of Devon Partnership NHS Trusts VocationalRehabilitation Service. Our service hasbeen developed from delivering many years of therapy, training and supportedemployment to adults living with a mental health condition who are workingtowards paid employment now or in the future.Set in a rural environment near Exeter overlooking Exminster and the ExeEstuary. New Leaf offers an opportunity for people to test themselves outside amedical environment, and develop themselves as a"person not apatient"within its different businesses.
Woodworks
Wood Works offers a wide range of supported learning opportunities in a well-equipped, commercial, workshop environment run by our experienced instructor.
Working with wood provides people with the opportunity to build skills using a variety of tools and machinery. It can also support people in their recovery through enhancing concentration, planning, and productivity. As people's ability and creativity develop, they are able to help produce a range of products for the commercial market. With the support of the staff, people are able to work towards achieving their vocational aspirations.
Main duties of the jobWe're looking for up to 3 volunteers to volunteer either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
- Contribute to planning of daily activities linked to individuals goals
- Participate in practical tasks such as preparation of materials to support tasks and projects
- Work with the Technical Instructor support individuals requiring additional support
- Contribute to development of woodworks
- Work alongside colleagues and potentially service users during the day
- Be aware of health and safety and contribute to the maintenance of a safe working environment.

Person Specification Experience- Good levels of physical fitness and a practical person, you will be on your feet the majority of the day and some tasks will require stamina
- People who are happy volunteering in a workshop environment
- Basic knowledge /interest in woodwork
- Commitment to the ethos and values of DPT
- Adaptability, flexibility and creativity
- Good interpersonal skills and experience of working in a team
- Manual handling experience (not essential)
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
