Job Description

Are you a dedicated and experienced social work professional looking for a rewarding opportunity? Wokingham Borough Council is seeking an Assistant Team Manager for our Family Help & Safeguarding Team, offering a competitive rate of £41 per hour. This role is ideal for those passionate about making a difference in the lives of families and children while working within a supportive team environment.

As an Assistant Team Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Team Manager in leading the Family Help & Safeguarding Team. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising and mentoring social workers, ensuring high-quality practice and compliance with safeguarding standards.
  • Assisting in the management of complex cases, providing guidance and support to team members.
  • Coordinating multi-agency partnerships to enhance service delivery and outcomes for children and families.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of service improvements and best practices.
  • Participating in performance management and ensuring the team meets statutory obligations.

The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in children's social work, particularly within a safeguarding context.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
