Your tasks and responsibilities

Aerodynamics is responsible for the aerodynamic design and characterization for all military aircraft programs along their product life cycle. We use numerical simulations, wind tunnel testing and flight test to understand the aerodynamic behavior and to create and deliver aircraft representative aerodynamic data and models for stability & control, performance, loads and aeroelastics. As a wind tunnel test & technology engineer, you contribute to our mission with the following tasks and responsibilities:
  • Coordination and execution of wind tunnel projects
  • Generation and analysis of test requirements
  • Development of test and model concepts and specification, setup of test program
  • Adaptation of specific software
  • Supervision of and contribution to model design
  • Supervision of external manufacturing of W/T models, active contribution to in-house manufacturing using 3D print technology
  • Support to instrumentation and calibration of wind tunnel models
  • Processing and analysis of aerodynamic data, quality assurance and archiving
  • Communication and cooperation with all parties involved both internally and externally, coordination of suppliers
  • Continuous striving for improvement to make our processes more efficient and to remain state of the art


Desired skills and qualifications
  • Master in aeronautical engineering or similar
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in a relevant field
  • Thorough knowledge about and experience in the application of measurement technology typically applied in the wind tunnel test environment.
  • Thorough understanding of gas dynamic relations and highly agile aircraft configuration aerodynamics
  • Knowledge about typical wind tunnel topologies and their trade-offs
  • Experience in CAD tools, preferably Catia V5
  • Experience in Python, Matlab, Labview, mySQL will be valuable
  • Experience in 3D printing
  • Hands-on attitude in the AeroLab and during wind tunnel tests as well as experience in model handling
  • Ability to prioritize technical solutions in order to balance with economic constraints
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, disposition to work in groups
  • Evident ability to learn and grow fast
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Willingness to travel (3x per year 2-6 weeks)
  • Fluent in English, German would be a plus
