Wills and Probate Paralegal - Barnsley office

Responsibilities

• Assisting solicitors and executives with matters at all stages of wills and probate transactions, from file opening to archiving in accordance with office and accounts procedures.
• Obtaining and preparing file documentation.
• Keeping clients and other parties updated on progress of matters.
• Billing files and obtaining monies due to the firm from the clients and other parties.
• Maintaining legal knowledge and skills.
• Contributing to maintaining and improving office procedures.
• Contributing to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.
• Performing any other duties required by the firm.

Qualifications

• Excellent client care.
• Ability to organise and prioritise work under supervision to meet client expectations and matter deadlines.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to present and argue a case orally and in writing.
• Ability to work on own initiative and as a member of a team.
• Ability to deal with enquiries in a customer friendly and effective manner.
• Confident and accurate communication skills.
• IT proficiency.

Experience

• Experience in a law firm is desirable but not essential.
• Previous experience in wills and probate is an advantage.

Other Requirements

• Flexible and can-do attitude.
• Excellent written English to produce documents for clients, other parties and third parties.
• Good spoken English to resolve telephone enquiries.
• Satisfactory absence record or sound justification for high absenteeism.
• Able to promote the image of the firm.

Salary and Location

Salary will depend on the successful candidate's skills and experience.
