Reports to: Translation Team Leader
Salary: £33,912-£36,981 (Part-Time, Permanent, 0.6 FTE)
Location / Department: Llysfasi
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds to join our supportive team at Coleg Cambria. In this role, you will use your exceptional communication skills and expertise in the Welsh language to provide a high-quality translation service, helping us meet Welsh Language Standards and promote bilingualism across our college community.
1. What You Will DoTranslation & Proofreading: Provide translation, proofreading, editing, and checking services for corporate materials, marketing, teaching resources, graphic designs, transcriptions, and video content.
Staff Guidance & Support: Advise staff on grammar, terminology, and translation issues, creating topic-specific glossaries to ensure consistency across the college.
Academic Support: Translate student work and offer constructive feedback to tutors.
Interpretation & Audit: Assist in providing interpretation services as required and help conduct bi-annual audits of the college website.
Standards & Representation: Assist with and advise on obligations under the Welsh Language Standards, and represent Coleg Cambria at external events as appropriate.
2. Must-HavesLanguage Skills: Excellent oral and written skills in both Welsh and English, with the ability to speak Welsh being essential for this role.
Education & Qualifications: A relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification in an appropriate subject, plus a relevant professional qualification (or a willingness to work towards one).
Experience: Proven experience in translation work and working within the education sector or another relevant specialist field.
Technical Competence: Well-developed ICT skills, including experience with translation and workspace software such as Wordfast, WPML, and Google Drive.
Key Skills: Ability to handle deadline-driven environments (translating at least 2,000 words per day), prioritise your own workload, and collaborate effectively within a team.
Core Values: A demonstrable commitment to equality and diversity, alongside a drive to promote and embed Welsh language and culture.
