Well Integrity Engineer

The Well Integrity Engineer ensures the integrity of the well portfolio throughout its lifecycle by managing well integrity systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and mitigating risks to personnel, the environment, and production performance. This role requires close collaboration with various departments, including operational asset teams, production engineers, offshore personnel, and drilling and well services engineers.
Main duties & responsibilities
Well Integrity Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Well Integrity Management System (WIMS) in line with industry standards (e.g., NORSOK D-010, ISO 16530).
- Align well maintenance strategies with WIMS and ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
Inspection and Monitoring
- Plan routine and non-routine well integrity inspections, including annular pressure monitoring, tubing integrity tests, and valve tests.
- Analyse inspection data to identify trends, anomalies, and corrective actions.
- Ensure the validation and maintenance of well integrity barriers throughout the lifecycle.
Technical Support
- Diagnose well integrity issues and recommend effective solutions.
- Support remediation operations, such as wellhead repairs, seal replacements, or casing/tubing repairs.
- Collaborate with drilling, production, and intervention teams to integrate well integrity considerations into operational planning and execution.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of well integrity status, inspections, and interventions.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities.
- Regularly update and improve well integrity procedures based on lessons learned and technological advancements.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Conduct risk assessments related to well integrity and propose mitigation measures.
- Ensure all well integrity activities comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and regulations.
Required competences/Qualifications/Experience/Profile
Competences
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills for well integrity challenges.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
- Effective communicator capable of engaging multidisciplinary teams and presenting findings clearly.
- Proactive problem-solver with a critical thinking mindset.
- Management documentation, standards and technical procedure relating to Well Integrity and Wellhead and XMT Maintenance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required; a Master's degree (MSc) is considered an advantage.
- Offshore certifications (e.g., BOSIET, HUET) preferred or willingness to obtain.
- IWCF Level 4 certification or willingness to obtain.
Experience
- Engineering background with 5 years proven experience in wells-related operations (e.g., drilling, completion, well intervention, or production engineering), showing an understanding of well design, barriers, and operational risks.
- Practical experience with well integrity tools, monitoring systems, and diagnostics.
- Familiarity with well design, construction, and abandonment practices.
Profile
- Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Collaborative and team-oriented, with a strong ability to liaise with production and operations teams.
- Willingness to travel offshore and work in dynamic environments.
