About the Role / Job Summary: I am working with our Housing Association based in the Scottish Borders to fill the above role for a temporary period of 3 months with possible extension.

This role involves providing quality housing and support services to the community.

As a Welfare Benefits Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring tenants receive the welfare benefits they are entitled to, promoting awareness of financial support available, and contributing to the overall well being of the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide confidential welfare benefits information and advice to tenants.
• Promote awareness of welfare, housing, and financial benefits.
• Collaborate with housing management on complex rent arrears cases.
• Implement administrative systems to monitor and evaluate the service.
• Organise benefits 'take up' campaigns and prepare information for tenants.
• Conduct home visits to assess entitlement to benefits.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of welfare benefits and related regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience in providing advice and support in welfare benefits.
• Familiarity with social housing environments.
• Proven ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Education Requirements

• Relevant qualifications in social work, community development, or related fields are desirable.
• Training in welfare benefits and housing regulations is advantageous.
