Ward Manager - Children's Observational Unit / Emergency Department

The Children's Observation Unit and Paediatric Emergency Department are seeking to recruit a motivated, organised and enthusiastic Ward Manager to oversee the managerial responsibilities and duties of the area.

Main duties of the job

An excellent opportunity for a Ward Manager who is committed to high quality care for children, young people and their families and providing excellent educational experience for student nurses.

You will demonstrate professional attributes, including diversity, dealing with change and the ability to learn new skills in the assessment and care of all paediatric patients and their families.

Working as part of a team of Medical Staff, Staff Nurses, Trainee Nursing Associate/Nursing Associates, Clinical Educators, Play and Activity Leaders, Healthcare Assistants, and Housekeepers, you will be responsible for providing the highest standard of evidence based patient care. You will also be responsible for supporting and developing staff and providing an excellent learning environment for student nurses.

The Division is progressive and innovative, continually striving to improve services for children, young people and their families. The Division operates a rotational policy, when necessary, across both sites in order to meet service and development needs.

It is essential that you are a registered paediatric nurse and have post registration experience 24 months of which must be at Band 6 level with experience within an ED/Assessment setting. You will be computer literate, have a teaching and mentorship qualification and will be educated to degree level in a health related subject (or willingness to commence a degree programme within 1 year in post).
