Ward Clerk for Maternity Assessment Unit

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and motivated Ward Clerk to join our team on Maternity Assessment Unit. This is a key administrative role supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the ward and helping to deliver excellent patient care.

  • To be the first point of contact for service users and visitors covering reception ensuring accurate information is recorded and communicated as appropriate.
  • To provide general administrative and clerical assistance and support for the team including inputting data, word processing of correspondence, photocopying, receipt and distribution of post.
  • The post holder will be required to work flexibly across the range of hours that the service covers, i.e. Shifts will cover the 24 hour service. They will also include bank holidays and weekends.
Main duties of the job
  1. Be a welcoming and friendly presence for patients and visitors
  2. Ensure ward intercom is answered appropriately, maintaining the safety and security of the maternity ward
  3. Support with stock ordering and control
  4. Receiving deliveries for the ward and managing post
  5. Uploading completed Friends and Family tests
  6. Responsible for reporting estates issues to helpdesk
  7. Answering telephones calls to the ward
  8. Scanning records into EPR
  9. Maintaining cleanliness of ward environment
  10. Updating service logs & Liaising with clinical engineering
