Salary- £80,000 - £95,000

An established financial institution is seeking an experienced Java Back-End Engineer (Vice President level) to join its growing eTrading Engineering team, based in Manchester. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of cutting-edge trading technology at the heart of a world-leading financial services organization.

The Role

As a Java Back-End Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and optimising the firm's electronic trading platforms. You'll collaborate closely with Product, Sales, Trading, and Operations teams to design, build, and scale robust, high-performance back-end systems that power critical trading applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement scalable back-end features and components for trading applications.
• Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code.
• Develop and maintain automated tests and testing frameworks.
• Optimize system architecture to support growth and reduce technical debt.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with team members to uphold coding best practices.
• Integrate software components into fully functional systems.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
• Contribute to deployment processes and ensure adherence to change control protocols.
• Drive continuous improvement through innovation and technical excellence.

About You

• Proven experience in software development, ideally within banking or financial services.
• Strong proficiency in Java, particularly in developing critical applications.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies such as React or Angular.
• Solid experience with relational databases and strong SQL skills.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset suited to agile development environments.
