Job Description

Autism West Midlands is looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to support our Social Opportunities for Autistic Adults (SOFAA) group in Selly Oak.

SOFAA is a monthly social group that provides autistic adults with a welcoming and supportive environment to meet others, build friendships and take part in enjoyable activities such as games, discussions and crafts.

As a volunteer, you will play an important role in helping members feel welcome, supported and included.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Welcoming group members as they arrive
  • Supporting social activities and conversations
  • Helping to create a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere
  • Assisting staff with the smooth running of sessions
  • Encouraging participation while respecting individual needs and preferences
What We're Looking For

We welcome applications from people who are:

  • Friendly, approachable and reliable
  • Good listeners with a positive attitude
  • Passionate about supporting autistic people
  • Able to commit to attending the monthly group sessions

Previous experience is not required. We particularly welcome expressions of interest from people with lived experience of autism.

Training and Support

We want our volunteers to feel confident and supported in their role. We provide:

  • Full induction and training
  • DBS check
  • Ongoing support from Autism West Midlands staff
