Volunteer Tutor, Builder & Drama Coach for Schools

Te Whare Awhero/Hornby Presbyterian Community Trust managed by Volunteering Canterbury

We are working with 2 local schools to support children develop and gain new opportunities in the following areas;

• Development of a veggie gardens in schools
• Supporting an in-school Construction Club (woodwork) no experience necessary, training provided.
• Volunteers to support Reading Support in schools e.g. commit to reading with a child once a week.
• Supporting an experienced Drama artist who runs a weekly school Drama Club.
• If you have a hobby you may wish to share with children e.g. art, coding, sports, etc, please bring your ideas to Ingrid, everything is worth a discussion.

Our community projects require volunteers for the following;

• Knowledgeable volunteer to support an adult fortnightly community vegetable group, run in Hornby.
• When needed we provide working bee's for our Whānau Support families for garden clean ups, if you would like to be included on the list of volunteers willing to be called on for this role, please get in touch, these happen as and when required, but not all that frequently.
• Van drivers to join a roster that picks up and drops off students to support school attendance.
