Role Overview

We are looking for a Volunteer Manager to join our team at Eltham Palace. The role is full time and permanent, working 36 hours per week. You will work with key members of the site team and the Volunteering & Participation Team to design and implement new offers in volunteering, diversifying the programme and ensuring it accounts for current sector trends, the needs of the local community and the needs of the site.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for managing and delivering the recruitment, training, support, retention and recognition of volunteers across all areas of English Heritage's work. The role also requires supporting the daily duty management of the site, ensuring health & safety, fire, security and safeguarding matters are managed in line with English Heritage procedures and statutory compliance.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with volunteers, staff and visitors, both in person and via email and digital channels.
  • Drive to grow the volunteering programme and develop volunteers' skills and experience.
  • People oriented, engaging with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Willingness to present and execute own ideas and to listen to and execute ideas of others.
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate, guide and support the volunteer team.
