Job Description

The Social and Political Science Division at the University of Chester, invites applications for Visiting Lecturers to support our undergraduate Sociology students.

About Role

Visiting Lecturers will provide an engaging learning environment for undergraduate students, delivering high-quality teaching and assessment support in areas such as introduction to sociological theory and the sociology of consumption.

As a guide, initially we are seeking a candidate who can deliver 4 hours of teaching on a Monday afternoon from beginning of October until end of December and engage with related work such as marking. We anticipate further VL opportunities from January.

The current hourly rate of pay for Visiting Lecturer work is £52.56 per hour. The hourly rate includes development of learning materials and marking of students' assessments.

About You

We are seeking candidates with:

  • A First Degree.
  • A Masters in Sociology or a closely related discipline.
  • Holding or undertaking a PhD in Sociology or closely related discipline.
