Job Description

If you're looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We're one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We're currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Vice President, Portfolio Structuring and Optimisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to take responsibility for the development, implementation, execution and management of non-payment insurance policies and risk distribution strategies for the wholesale loan portfolio. You'll support other risk distribution activities such as synthetic securitisations and will need a strong understanding of lending products, capital requirements, risk management principles, and insurance products, along with the ability to analyse data, identify opportunities, and mitigate potential risks.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you'll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you'll:
  • Formulate and enhance strategies for non-payment insurance and risk distribution within the portfolio, ensuring alignment with business objectives and risk tolerance
  • Work with cross-functional teams to create insurance products that effectively mitigate non-payment risks associated with the portfolio's assets
  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify potential exposures, employing both quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques
  • Negotiate and execute non-payment insurance policies, ensuring adherence to policy terms and internal guidelines
  • Oversee the performance of insurance products within the portfolio, regularly evaluating their effectiveness in mitigating risks and making necessary adjustments
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with bankers, insurance brokers, insurers, reinsurers, and other external partners to enhance risk distribution capabilities and explore new collaboration opportunities
  • Produce regular reports and analyses to track key performance indicators, assess the impact of insurance products on portfolio performance, and communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for non-payment insurance, working closely with legal and compliance teams as needed
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
  • Experience in wholesale lending, portfolio management, capital management, risk management, or non-payment insurance, with a focus on non-payment insurance and risk distribution.
  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence decision-making.
  • Knowledge of insurance products, financial markets, and regulatory frameworks related to insurance, capital and risk management.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Diligent work ethic, be confident in your approach with the ability to lead projects and push things forward
