Veterinary Surgeon - Supportive and Highly Skilled team
Posted 11 hours 3 minutes ago by British Veterinary LGBT+
Join a Friendly and Forward-Thinking Small Animal Team in Devon and Cornwall!
Are you seeking a role where you can enjoy coming to work every day?
Do you love providing high-quality veterinary care but also crave a life outside of work? Well this could be the role for you!
Imagine offering excellent clinical care during the day and then unwinding in the stunning coastlines and countryside of Devon and Cornwall in the evenings. At this veterinary hospital, this balance is not just a dream but a reality. This friendly, forward-thinking small animal team is excited to welcome a new Vet into their supportive, skilled, and close-knit environment.
About the PracticeThe practice operates across four well-equipped sites, featuring prep rooms, operating theatres, dental suites, kennels/cattery, X ray, ultrasound, full lab facilities, endoscopy, and laparoscopic spay equipment. A CT scanner is currently being installed, and the practice is on the verge of achieving RCVS Hospital Status following a recent Practice Standards inspection.
The team includes advanced practitioners and certificate holders in pain management, anaesthesia, medicine, exotics, ophthalmology, and behaviour. Certificates in cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, and surgery are also in progress. The practice benefits from a peripatetic surgeon, acupuncture services, and a highly experienced nursing team with additional qualifications in behaviour and anaesthesia.
The practice is proud to provide small animal rotations for veterinary students and was ranked number one by students for teaching experience last year. The team is cohesive, stable, and genuinely supportive, with a strong commitment to excellent communication, collaboration, and high-quality veterinary care.
The RoleThe ideal candidate will be:
- Committed, motivated, and collaborative
- Focused on excellent client care and communication
- A team player who values a positive, supportive environment

- 1 weekend in 8, with the following Monday off
- 1 in 8 Saturdays, likely to reduce with the addition of another vet
- Saturdays are centralised at the hospital branch (open 8:30-5pm), reducing pressure on the weekend rota
- Maximum 4 nights on call in every 4 weeks (2 included in a worked weekend)
- Full RVN and vet support for inpatient care
- Salary up to £60,000, commensurate with experience
- 4 day working week, with flexibility for 3 day weeks depending on the candidate
- 6.6 weeks holiday, including bank holidays
- RCVS fees, VDS, BVA, and one additional membership paid
- CPD: 5 days + £1,750 budget
- Regular performance and career development reviews
- Certificate support and progression encouraged
- Health insurance
- Health Plan scheme
- Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay
- Company sick pay
- Exceptional facilities and ongoing investment
- A genuinely supportive, skilled, and friendly team
- Beautiful location perfect for a good work-life balance
- A culture that values teamwork and respects each individual
- A practice where excellent GP skills are celebrated, and further development is encouraged
