Veterinary Surgeon - Middlesbrough

An independent small animal practice in the thriving port town of Middlesbrough is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon (3+ years) to join its growing team due to expansion. Open for just one year, this modern, purpose built practice is already exceptionally busy and continuing to grow.
This is an exciting opportunity for a confident vet who enjoys working in a fast paced environment and is comfortable with sole charge, routine surgery, and consultations. A veterinary surgeon with a medical bias and an interest in imaging work ups would also be warmly welcomed. Above all, the practice prioritises team fit, valuing collaboration, clinical freedom, and a calm, communicative approach.
The PracticeThis independent practice prides itself on excellent onsite facilities and high clinical standards. The team is close knit - more like family - and benefits from strong nursing support and a genuinely supportive culture.
Facilities- Advanced ultrasound including 3 linear probe system
- Digital X ray
- Two fully equipped theatres
- Dedicated dental suite (with dental X ray arriving soon)
- Orthopaedic equipment
- Flexiscope (in progress)
- Separate cat and dog waiting areas
- Dedicated pharmacy team member
- Heavy nurse led workflow with case handovers
Consultations are 15 minutes, allowing time for quality communication and thorough clinical work.
The Team- Two experienced certificate holders (including Surgery and Advanced Practitioner in ECC)
- Two 2025 graduates
- Highly experienced nursing team (mostly certificate holders)
- Strong nurse led structure supporting vets effectively
- Full time: 40 hours per week
- 4 day week standard (flexible to 3, 4 or 5 days)
- Monday-Wednesday: Late finish (7:30pm) - 11 hour shifts
- Thursday & Friday: 10 hour shifts
- Paid 1 hour lunch break
- Part time considered
- Salary: £50,000-£75,000 (DOE)
- £70,000-£75,000 for an experienced vet
- 5 weeks annual leave (including bank holidays) + Birthday off
- Generous CPD allowance and RCVS fees paid
