Vehicle Technician / Military Vehicle Engineer - Oxfordshire

Abingdon - £37,791.73 + £3,000 Sponsored Reserve payment + enhanced overtime

Are you a Vehicle Technician, HGV Technician, Plant Fitter or Agricultural Engineer looking for something beyond a conventional workshop role?

We're recruiting engineers and technicians to maintain an advanced fleet of state-of-the-art military vehicles, specialist plant and defence equipment supporting UK Defence operations.

Previous military experience is not required. If you have worked on cars, commercial vehicles, emergency-service fleets, 4x4s, agricultural machinery, forklifts or construction plant, your experience could transfer extremely well.

Full technical and military training will be provided.

The Military Vehicle Engineer Role

You'll help keep essential military vehicles and specialist defence equipment safe, reliable and ready for operational use.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Servicing and repairing military vehicles, plant and material-handling equipment

• Completing planned and preventative maintenance

• Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults

• Investigating breakdowns and completing effective repairs

• Replacing, repairing and rebuilding mechanical components

• Inspecting and preparing equipment for operational use

• Completing accurate electronic maintenance records

• Identifying and ordering replacement parts

• Working to strict safety, quality and engineering standards

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applications from experienced technicians, recently qualified apprentices and automotive engineering graduates with practical workshop experience.

Suitable backgrounds include:

• Vehicle Technician or Diagnostic Technician

• MOT Tester

• HGV or Commercial Vehicle Technician

• Plant Fitter or Plant Engineer

• Agricultural Engineer

• Emergency-Service or Fleet Technician

• Forklift or Material-Handling Engineer

• 4x4 or Off-Highway Vehicle Technician

• REME Engineer

You'll need practical mechanical maintenance or vehicle-repair experience, good fault-finding skills and the ability to work independently. Experience with hydraulic or electrical systems would be beneficial, although further training is available.

Sponsored Reserve Requirement

As this position supports UK Defence, successful applicants must become or remain an Army Sponsored Reservist.

If you do not have recent military experience, the required Reservist training will be fully provided.
