Vehicle Safety Test Engineer

Duties:

1. The candidate will join the Vehicle Safety Test Laboratories test team at Gaydon to conduct physical destructive testing on components, systems, and vehicles to meet Passive Safety targets.
2. Work closely with customers; the data collected will be used to progress engineering development or to provide compliance evidence by witnessing authorities and others.
3. Translate regulation and requirement test protocols into practical testing procedures.
4. Utilize modern test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems to manage tests from start to finish, ensuring timely production of test reports.
5. Initially, the role will be on days; later in the year, it may require shift work including early and late shifts.

Skills:

1. Experience with physical testing in a laboratory setting.
2. Working knowledge of passive safety regulations and requirements, including FMVSS and ECE.
3. Knowledge of instrumentation and data acquisition systems such as force, displacement, and acceleration measurements.

Education:

• A degree is desired but not essential.
