Job Description
We are looking for a vehicle preparation technician to work at our Brackmills preparation centre to prepare new and used Volvo & Kia vehicles for delivery to our customers or for forecourt readiness, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards. This includes performing pre-delivery inspections, minor repairs, cosmetic checks, and installing accessories. They also work closely with other teams to coordinate vehicle movement and maintain a clean, safe work environment. Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI): Conducting thorough checks on new Volvo & Kia vehicles to ensure they meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
Used Vehicle Preparation: Preparing used vehicles to Volvo Selekt and Kia Approved standards for sale or customer collection, including minor repairs, cosmetic work, and ensuring all features are functional.
Mechanical Work: Performing tasks like fluid checks, tyre pressure adjustments, battery checks, and basic steering geometry checks.
Accessory Installation: Fitting accessories and optional extras as required.
Repair and Maintenance: Carrying out routine servicing, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
Reporting: Identifying and reporting any defects, damages, or necessary repairs to the appropriate personnel.
Documentation: Completing inspection checklists and necessary paperwork accurately.
Teamwork: Collaborating with service, sales, and valeting teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of vehicles.
Maintenance of Work Environment: Keeping the workspace clean, organized, and safe in accordance with health and safety standards.
Road Testing: Road-testing vehicles to check repairs and ensure proper functionality.
Liaison with Departments: Communicating with service and sales staff to facilitate vehicle preparation and delivery.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs.
Attention to Detail: Ensuring high-quality work and adherence to manufacturer standards.
Diagnostic Skills: Ability to accurately diagnose and report on vehicle defects.
Problem-Solving: Addressing and resolving issues efficiently and effectively.
Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication with team members and other departments.
Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various conditions.
Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair is required.
Driving License: A full driving license is required
