Vehicle Mechanic (Military)

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity within our reputable client for a Service Engineer based onsite at a military barracks near Stafford.
A vibrant, inclusive community in Complex Facilities/ Defence Equipment working on Service, inspection, maintenance and repair of Plant and HGV assets as part of the Service Life Extension Programme. Proactively maintain / repair a fleet of assets that have been identified as part of the Service Life Extension Programme (SLEP).
Maximise the operational availability for the customer by investigating, understanding and eliminating failed/faulty operation of those products such that the fix is as rapid and as cost effective as possible while ensuring continued safe and effective operation for the foreseeable future. Complete SLEP standard tasks within the given guidelines.
Hours of Work40 Hours Per Week (Monday - Friday with additional overtime required at weekends when needed)
What you will do- Both at the outset and as work progresses, liaise with the SLEP Centre Supervisor / Equipment Sustainability Manager, on the range of expected work, providing clarity and understanding of likely timescales and associated costs.
- Identify any further work required on the equipment and liaise with the SLEP Centre Supervisor. Follow the NFW&T process for any damage found, to ensure the customer is made aware of the fact. The engineer should ensure that they identify potential revenue for equipment that has been damaged.
- Complete all related job and service documentation with accurate data and all necessary signatures/documents obtained from the customer.
- Repair, maintain, inspect and service Plant and HGV equipment and associate ancillaries with current company standards and LOLER and PUWER legislation.
- Maintain local stocks of spares, CES, ancillaries, attachments, and local technical documentation, as appropriate.
- Using existing processes, collecting and input management information arising from maintenance and transaction activity, as required.
- Ensure that safe systems of work are adopted and company Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality policies are read, always understood, and adhered to.
- Authorised to mentor WFA and MoD maintainers and users, within limits of own qualification, ability, and knowledge.
- Will be required to undertake out of hours duties including weekend work as required.
- Will be required to achieve local, or team placed goals and KPI's.
- Full UK Driving License
- City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent in mechanical engineering
- Experience in diagnosis techniques.
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety, LOLER and PUWER regulations
- Experience in construction related plant/MHE/HGV maintenance.
- No restrictions to gaining MoD security clearance.
- Ability in loading and unloading of equipment, tools, STTE and spares.
- Valid passport as potential for occasional travel to overseas locations.
- Able to maintain periods of intense workload.
