This role will include maintaining the ambulances, which is why being a confident driver is important, and ensuring the station's stockrooms are fully stocked. This is to be completed to an Infection Prevention and Control policy standard, along with supporting Cleanliness Standards processes.
Requirements
- You have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
- UK Manual Driving licence - held for 1 year or more, with no more than 6 points on your licence.
- Support with deployment.
- Work to the impact report schedule that each vehicle can start at its requested start shift time.
- Issue and make available consumables and Chemex solutions for crews.
- Assist crews to ensure vehicles are prepped, fully stocked and ready to depart site within 15 minutes.
- VMRO needs to advise vehicle not suitable for deployment - due to defect etc. Dispatch will advise which vehicle is needed based on vehicle spares.
- Liaise with dispatch to coordinate vehicle changes upon request.
- Ensure all Ambulance Colleagues are supported, compliant, safe and ready to deploy in line with Falck Policies (including uniform, PPE, vehicle, equipment and XDAs).
- Be conversant and apply all organisational policies and procedures.
- Support crews to complete their VDIs.
- Update and send Vehicle/Equipment reports (e.g. key reconciliation, two person crew etc.).
- Coordinate vehicle parking upon return to site, based on next deployment wave.
- Assist and audit pre and post shift checks, e.g. VDI checks, mopping of vehicles, and elevate issues to the Compliance Manager.
- Complete end of shift checklist for vehicle, equipment and consumable.
- Complete end of shift vehicle clean.
- Complete visual inspections of equipment stored on vehicle units, with particular attention paid to service sticker dates. Escalate to the Engineering Manager and out of date maintenance.
- Check equipment stored on the vehicle aligns to the asset register. Escalate discrepancies to the compliance manager.
- Refuel vehicles as instructed.
- Reconfigure vehicles, i.e. seats, stretchers, etc.
- Replace cylinders on vehicles.
- Ensure vehicle fully stocked with consumables and excess consumables removed from the vehicles and returned to the VMRO hut.
- Repair minor vehicle defects, i.e. bulbs, mirrors, wipers etc.
- Repair minor equipment defects, i.e. stretchers, carry chairs, wheelchairs etc.
- Coordinate vehicle repairs with the Compliance Manager and Mechanics.
- Coordinate servicing & MOTs - taking vehicles to and from the workshops.
- Identify new vehicle damage and report this to Compliance Manager.
- Report body damage to the Compliance Manager.
- Put AdBlue in vehicles.
- Jump start vehicles where necessary.
- Complete pre MOT checks to enhance MOT pass rate, i.e. tyres, mirrors, bulbs, etc.
- Defrost windscreens ahead of crews starting to speed up departure from site.
- Manage the broken equipment 'Quarantine' area, ensuring all items are segregated, checked, labelled 'Out of Service' and the details are recorded.
- Manage 'Available for Service' equipment area for repaired equipment, ensuring all equipment swapped to the appropriate areas (Red, Black, Yellow and Green) depending on equipment maintenance status.
- Identify defective vehicles and equipment, quarantine broken equipment and liaise with the Compliance Manager for defective vehicles to be repaired.
- Complete external vehicle washing and documentation required.
- Complete deep clean washing and documentation required.
- Coordinate all external and deep cleans completed with the Fleet team and Compliance Manager.
- Ensure mop heads are washed daily and replaced.
- Use equipment and consumables provided for cleaning duties as instructed to ensure effective cleaning and disinfection is achieved.
- Clean and disinfect all internal areas of the vehicle unit following safe systems of work provided. Ensuring all equipment and consumables are removed for effective cleaning.
- Clean and disinfect all items of equipment taken off the vehicle prior to reinstalling it.
- Ensure procedures for cleaning vehicles following transport of patients with infectious diseases are always followed.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment used follows colour coding policy and cleaning equipment is properly cleaned and stored after use.
- Ensure cleaning chemicals are secure, stored in a manner to prevent harm and in date.
- Ensure COSHH regulations to be always complied with.
- Conduct stock takes, receive and distribute stock inventory (consumables and equipment).
- Advise and inform Compliance Manager of stock ordering requirements.
- Complete stock takes of office areas, storeroom and VMRO hut when requested by the Compliance Manager.
- Manage first aid kits - or providing replacement items to put in first aid boxes.
- Supervise deliveries - taking items from drivers and putting in correct places across the site.
- Ensure Chemex supplies are in stock and available, informing the Compliance Manager, in advance, when more stock is required.
- Assist the manager of the base/station with administrative duties relating to the smooth running of the station.
- Conduct health, safety, security and cleanliness site walk about 3 times per day. Ensure site is clean and tidy.
- Complete an entire base cleaning walk about once per day.
- Report site issues to Compliance Manager and support with basic minor repairs.
- Arrange collection of general waste and clinical waste, ensure correct waste is in each bin.
- Ensure VMRO and other storage areas are maintained to a high standard of organisation and cleanliness.
- Replace toilet rolls and soaps daily.
- Apply salt to walkways and applicable areas.
- Clear all walkways.
- Ensure uniform and personal protective equipment is worn in accordance with the organisations work wear policy and is laundered to maintain a professional image and high standard of personal hygiene. Ensure requests for replacement uniform are made following procedure to maintain adequate clean supply.
- Undertake the daily, weekly and monthly station cleaning checks and complete documentation in accordance with the responsibilities assigned by the station supervisor. Escalate any concerns to the station or duty manager.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify mistakes.
- Can work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines.
- Be in good health and can lift and carry equipment.
- Computer literate.
- Technical knowledge of medical equipment and consumables an advantage but not essential.
- Stocktake is always within minimum levels.
- Key equipment is in working order for all deployment waves.
- Deep cleaning compliance - 95%.
- All vehicles cleaned inside and out on frequency TBC 95%.
- All vehicles deploy within 15 minutes 95%.
- VDI completion 95%.
- CQC compliance and success external inspection outcomes.
- To ensure that statutory regulations and organisational policies and procedures are always implemented and adhered to.
- To take part in staff development programmes and annual development reviews and/or undertake further training when required.
