VAT Manager

Description

• Working with UK and international businesses to help them navigate VAT and wider indirect tax considerations across their operations and supply chains.
• Supporting charities, education bodies, and not-for-profit organisations with assessing VAT treatment of income, improving recovery positions, and managing partial exemption matters.
• Advising on VAT issues linked to land & property, including transactions and development projects, collaborating regularly with external advisers e.g architects and solicitors.
• Sharing updates on VAT developments through internal briefings and social media.
• Overseeing project budgets, agreeing fees, and ensuring work is delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
• Building strong, trusted relationships with clients and managing expectations throughout engagements.
• Contributing to business development initiatives and participating in sector-focused groups e.g food & drink and charities.

Profile

A successful VAT Manager should have:

• A strong background in managing a varied VAT client portfolio across different industries.
• Confidence in leading and developing team members, with proven people-management experience.
• Experience in VAT gained within either an accountancy practice or HMRC.
• CTA or equivalent qualified.
• An effective communicator with the ability to build strong relationships and engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
