The Borthwick Institute
The Borthwick Institute, established in 1953 in St Anthony's Hall, York, moved to purpose-built premises on the University campus in 2005 after receiving a £4.415 million Heritage Lottery Fund grant. It is one of the largest and most significant archive repositories in Northern England, providing public access to archives from the 11th to 21st centuries. The institute serves a diverse clientele, including academic departments, students, researchers, and staff, and plays an active role in professional sectors related to archives and records management.
Role
The successful candidate will focus on the long-term digital preservation of research records, administrative records, and digital assets, including websites and online resources. Responsibilities include digital cataloguing, digitisation of physical records, and ensuring access and preservation of digital and analogue archives, such as recorded sound and historical documents. The role requires expertise in digital preservation methodologies to address the university's needs for managing digital records and assets effectively.
