Job Description

On behalf of Crown Commercial Services, we are looking for a User Researcher (Inside IR35) for a 6 month remote contract with occasional office visits for workshops and meetings

Crown Commercial Services (CCS) is the largest public procurement organisation in the UK.

As a trading fund and executive agency of the Cabinet Office, we implement procurement policy on behalf of the government.

As a user researcher you will be required to follow relevant government functional standards and other related requirements and guidance in particular

Key accountabilities:
. Experienced research practitioner who is capable of planning and executing user research activities across large and complex projects and services.
. Have excellent working knowledge of user-centred design best practices in line with Government Design Standards.
. Be able to design and deliver inclusive user research with a wide range of users, with a focus on qualitative research methodologies and knowing how to apply different methods to different research projects.
. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and deliver meaningful and impactful user research with actionable and implementable insights.
. Have the ability to present user insights in a clear and engaging way, adapting the dissemination technique to the audience, and using creative approaches to storytelling.
. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, effective management of stakeholders and facilitate discussions at a senior level.
. You will be an excellent communicator who can advocate for your users and explain user-centered design principles to non-specialists.
. You can help to champion a user-centered, evidence-based approach.

Essential skills:
. User research methods: You can plan and conduct user research in the most suitable method(s) and effectively involve your team in research activities.
. Analysis and synthesis: Understand how to apply core research analysis and synthesis techniques; and effetely involve your team and key stakeholders in the process. You are able to present clear findings that colleagues can understand and use.
. Inclusive research: You can help teams understand the diversity of users of government services and work with colleagues to include many kinds of users in appropriate research activities.
. Research management, leadership and assurance: You can ensure research has a clearly defined scope and purpose, get advice or support from subject matter experts or more senior colleagues where required, and grow your understanding of good research practices.
. Stakeholder relationship management: You can build good relationships with stakeholders, with communicating clearly and tailored to their needs, build a reach a consensus and work to improve stakeholder understanding of user needs through using evidence-based research.
. User-centered and agile practices: You understand can explain the benefits of agile ways of working and user-centred design best practice; design and conduct your research within an agile workflow, working with the different roles within a multidisciplinary team; and advocate for the user through sharing research insights and user needs.
