Job Description
at the Institute of Statistics at the Faculty of Economics and Statistics. It is a position in accordance with 98 of the Austrian Universities' Act (Universitätsgesetz - UG) and will be based on a civil-law employment contract with the University on the basis of the Salaried Employees Act (Angestelltengesetz). The contract will be concluded for an unlimited period; the extent of employment is 100%. Responsibilities Representation of the field of Data Science in research and teaching. Active participation and collaboration within the Department of Statistics, the Faculty of Economics and Statistics, and the research areas "Digital Science" and "Economics, Politics, and Society (EPoS)". In teaching, the subject Data Science is to be covered in the relevant study programs of the Faculty at the Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD level. Of particular importance is the participation in the development, coordination, and implementation of the planned Master's program "Data Science". Employment Requirements include a degree in higher education in Austria or an equivalent qualification from abroad, pertinent to the position; pertinent habilitation or comparable qualification (e.g., associate professorship); Scientific excellence, demonstrated through publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals; Excellent knowledge of probabilistic modeling, statistical inference, and machine learning; Excellent programming skills in R and/or Python, demonstrated through published software in recognized repositories and/or journals; Experience with real-world applications; Proven integration into international research networks; International academic mobility; experience in the acquisition and management of competitive third-party funding; Relevant teaching experience and demonstrated didactic skills; Social competence and leadership qualifications; Ability to teach courses in both German and English; however, the successful candidate is expected to attain a proficiency level of B2 within 2 years.
