Overview

Our client, an established engineering consultancy operating in Derby, requires an experienced Turbine Design Engineer to join their multi-disciplinary team.

The successful candidate will have strong expertise in turbine design (ideally gas turbines) for aerospace engines, and be familiar with relevant aerospace standards. Candidates will need the existing right to live & work in the UK, and be able to obtain BPSS Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Executing design and development projects
• Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in requirements capture and execution
• Stay updated on emerging tools, technologies, designs and manufacturing methods
• Conduct analyses and contribute to innovating in New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes
• Collaborate closely with Team Leaders of other departments and Project Management, to align project objectives
• Able to present work to customer review board

What experience you need

• Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline (mechanical, aerospace/aeronautical, preferred)
• Demonstratable experience in design and development of:
  • Compressor/Fan structural and rotating parts
  • Rotating shaft, shaft cone, bearing support and bearing design
  • Development rig design, analysis and integration
  • 3D part modelling and drafting
  • Interface control definition
  • In-depth knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing methods
  • Part tolerancing with design for manufacturing applications
  • Design calculations related to stress strength and stack-up
• Experience of PC-based Windows applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), UG NX, PLM Teamcenter, Hypermesh, ANSYS Workbench/ANSYS Classic or similar tool
