Trustees & Chair of The Board - Deafinitely Theatre: Wembley, UK
Posted 9 hours 45 minutes ago by Independent Theatre Council Ltd
We are currently looking for passionate, thoughtful and committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees, including a Chair of the Board, as Deafinitely Theatre enters an exciting new phase of growth.
Deafinitely Theatre is the UK's first deaf-launched and deaf-led professional theatre company, working bilingually in British Sign Language (BSL) and spoken English. We create high-quality theatre for deaf and hearing audiences, tour nationally and support the next generation of deaf artists through our youth and training programmes.
Skills and experienceWhether you're an experienced professional or just excited about theatre and bilingual work, we want to hear from you. We're particularly keen to welcome those with skills in:
- deaf lived experience and strong connections to deaf communities
- touring or commercial producing
- finance, governance or senior leadership
We are also recruiting a new Chair of the Board, to succeed our outgoing Chair, allowing for a supported handover of responsibilities ahead of his formal step-down in December. The Chair will work closely with the Artistic Director and Executive Director to provide strategic leadership, ensure strong governance, and help guide the organisation's long-term direction.
RemunerationThis is a voluntary unpaid role, with relevant expenses like travel reimbursed.
Commitment and inclusionAs a deaf led theatre company for everyone, we particularly encourage those who are deaf or hard of hearing to apply.
We also welcome informal conversations around becoming a Trustee if you feel like you'd prefer more clarity before officially applying. You can contact our Executive Director, Frankie George on with any queries you may have or to set up a call in BSL.
How to applyTo apply, please send a BSL video or covering letter explaining why you are interested and feel you would be suitable for this role along with your CV to and complete our Equal Opportunities Form. The deadline for applications is Thursday 19th February 2026 by 5pm.
