An Anaesthetic Trust Grade post has become available within the department of Perioperative medicine at Whipps Cross Hospital. These posts are funded by Barts Health and are therefore Trust Grade appointments. They attract the MN37 payscale, 1A banding supplement (50%) and london weighting. These posts may also assist successful candidates who are working towards Stage 1 RCoA competencies.
Main duties of the jobThis is an excellent opportunity for dynamic individuals with the appropriate skills to join a first class multi-disciplinary team providing the full range of services to the majority of East London and beyond in a progressive London teaching hospital environment.
The post will commence on Aug 5th 2026, and will be for 6 months, with opportunity to extend further by mutual agreement.
Job responsibilitiesThe Department of Perioperative Medicine provides anaesthesia for all surgical specialities and is involved in many exciting initiatives. The Critical Care Unit/s comprises 17 beds. There are 800 - 900 admissions per year. The maternity unit provides an engaging training environment and has deliveries/year. On calls are on a 1:8 rolling rota and will be in either Emergency theatres, critical care or obstetrics.
Qualifications- MB BS or equivalent
- Current GMC registration
- Primary FRCA
- Eligible to work in the UK
- ALS
- FRCA, MRCP, FFICM
- Or first part of any of the postgraduate qualifications above.
- APLS, ATLS
- Completed stage 1 anesthetics training (or equivalent)
- 6-months experience of practicing ICM in a UK setting
- 6-months experience of practicing ICM in a UK setting
- Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates
- Evidence of formal training in teaching methods
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
