Treasurer/Trustee
Posted 1 day 5 hours ago by Business & Human Rights Resource Centre
Role: Volunteer Treasurer
Volunteering with us is a fantastic way to help us champion protecting our countryside and the pressures put on it from housing and road development, preparing it for climate change, addressing renewable energy, biodiversity and sustainable transport.
As treasurer you'll have an essential role in planning and accounting for our finances to ensure the long-term sustainability of our charity.
This is a relatively undemanding, part-time role for someone who has retired from the Services and who lives in or near Wiltshire. It could easily be combined with other part-time roles.
CPRE Wiltshire is both a charity and a limited company.
What you'll do:
Oversee and manage the charity's financial records. Prepare financial reports for trustee meetings. Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and reporting deadlines. Provide financial advice and guidance to the board of trustees/directors. Monitor and manage with budget. Support fundraising efforts by providing financial information. Work variable hours, usually no more than 2 - 3 hours per week at times of your choosing, from home. Attend quarterly Trustee meetings (held either on Zoom or in person in Devizes) and our AGM (held at various locations in Wiltshire). We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience, almost all of which will be natural for a retired Service officer or warrant officer:
Strong organisational and financial skills. Experience in financial management, bookkeeping, or accounting. Experience of holding a Service funds account and/or having direct or indirect experience with a Service budget would be ideal. Ideally, familiarity with charity finance and regulations. However this could quickly be learnt. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Commitment to the charity's mission and values. Experience using a financial package such as Quick Books (desirable but not essential). If preferred, the account can easily be run on an Excel spreadsheet, as it has been recently.
