SignHealth is a unique and inspiring organisation, which has worked and campaignedto improve deaf people's health and wellbeing for nearly 40 years. They provide a rangeof services, including social care, psychological therapy, domestic abuse support, advocacy and children and young people's services. They deliver this work by deafpeople to deaf people across the UK in British Sign Language (BSL). SignHealth are one of the largest disabled people's organisations in the UK. Their ambition is to be the go- to deaf charity, and the partner of choice for the NHS, public bodies, and health organisations.
SignHealth is a healthy charity, with an inspiring, ambitious vision. They aim to grow their current turnover to £15m and beyond, continue to expand and deepen their impact, and achieve lasting system change.
Role Profile
Overseeing budgets, internal management accounts and annual financial statements presented to the Board
- Leading in the Board's duty to ensure proper accounting records are kept, financial resources are properly controlled, invested and economically spent, in line with good governance and in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Providing guidance on the development and implementation of financial reserves, cost management and investment policies
- Chairing the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (FARC), which meets every quarter prior to a full Board meeting - with an emphasis on finance, governance and risk management, external audit, reserves and investments, monitoring specific financial controls and adherence to systems
- Liaising with the Director of Finance and Transformation and the Head of Finance who are responsible for producing management accounts, statutory accounts and assembling key financial reports for FARC and the Board
- Monitoring and advising on the financial viability of SignHealth
- Advising on the financial implications of SignHealth's strategic plan andinvestment in growth
- Liaising with external auditors (currently Sayer Vincent) on specific issues,including the auditor's management letter and representations to the Board
What we're looking for
- A strong passion for deaf equity and a commitment to being a representative for SignHealth's vision and values
- A professional accounting or finance qualification
- Experience in finance and strategic planning
- Accountability, honesty, integrity and transparency
