Detailed description

The ESR is open to the public from middle of March to end of October at weekends (and Wednesdays and Thursdays in the summer). A Rota is issued to volunteers to give their availability so time commitment is flexible. Excellent role for those seeking experience dealing with the public.

Looking for a volunteering role that provides great satisfaction and oodles of camaraderie? The East Somerset Heritage Steam Railway welcomes new volunteers in a variety of roles. As well as hands-on, practical work maintaining our railway line and our steam locomotive and Signal Box restoration projects, we require public facing roles during the summer season such as Guards, Travelling Ticket Inspectors, Shop and Ticket Office staff.
