Transport Manager

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and hands-on Transport Manager to join this company. This role is ideal for a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment and enjoys taking full ownership of transport performance.

You will be responsible for daily transport operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and strong commercial outcomes. Working closely with drivers and operational teams, you will play a key role in optimising fleet performance, maintaining service standards, and driving continuous improvement across the transport function.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage daily transport operations, including routing, planning, and fleet utilisation
  • Monitor and improve vehicle performance, efficiency, and downtime
  • Ensure compliance with transport legislation and operator licence requirements
  • Take ownership of operational costs, KPIs, and overall profitability
  • Lead, manage, and motivate drivers to ensure high performance and accountability
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure audit readiness
  • Resolve customer service issues and ensure reliable service delivery
  • Support compliance with industry accreditations and standards
Education & Skills Required
  • Previous experience in a transport or logistics operations management role
  • Very good people skills, able to influence and manage teams, able to motivate and build engagement
  • CPC qualification (or working towards it)
  • Strong knowledge of transport systems, routing software, and Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
