Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Transformation Lead - Training to lead the modernisation and integration of training capabilities across Defence Digital programmes. This role is critical in ensuring Defence personnel are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to effectively adopt and exploit new digital capabilities.

The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in training transformation, learning strategy, and Defence environments, ensuring training is Embedded as a core enabler of digital adoption and long-term operational effectiveness.

  • Active SC clearance is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities Training Transformation & Strategy

  • Lead the transformation of Defence training capabilities to support digital and data-enabled operations.
  • Develop and deliver training transformation roadmaps covering policy, process, digital learning tools, and workforce capability development.
  • Ensure alignment between Defence Digital programmes, user communities, and enterprise-wide training strategies.
  • Drive integration between training design, digital platforms, and operational systems to deliver accessible and effective learning solutions.

Training Needs Analysis & Development

  • Conduct training needs and capability gap analyses across Defence user communities.
  • Define training requirements and develop learning solutions supporting both initial and enduring capability usage.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of blended learning solutions, including classroom-based training, simulation, E-learning, and on-the-job learning.
  • Support the creation, management, and continuous improvement of digital learning artefacts and knowledge repositories.

Stakeholder Engagement & Change Leadership

  • Collaborate with Defence stakeholders, industry partners, and academia to deliver sustainable and interoperable training solutions.
  • Lead change management activities to support cultural and behavioural adoption of digital capabilities.
  • Champion user-centric training approaches to ensure confidence, usability, and operational readiness.

Governance, Assurance & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain governance structures to oversee training transformation progress, quality, and compliance.
  • Ensure training solutions comply with Defence standards, learning assurance frameworks, and accreditation requirements.
  • Support the development of business cases, benefits realisation frameworks, and capability assurance artefacts.

Collaboration & Agile Delivery

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and transformation planning to align training activities with capability delivery cycles.
  • Work closely with product owners, service managers, user researchers, and designers to embed training throughout the delivery life cycle.
  • Promote a culture of learning, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across Defence Digital teams.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience leading training transformation or learning modernisation within Defence, Government, or large-scale technical programmes.
  • Strong understanding of training and education methodologies, including blended and digital learning approaches.
  • Demonstrable experience conducting training needs analysis and developing capability-based learning solutions.
  • Experience designing and implementing training governance, assurance, and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience working within Defence or secure environments.
