New Chapter Tuition is recruiting a Trainee Tutor to support children and young people with SEND and inclusion needs across Newham. This role is ideal for individuals looking to begin or develop a career in tutoring, SEND, or alternative education.
You will work 1:1 with learners who may have SEND, SEMH, ADHD, or who are disengaged or excluded from mainstream education. Sessions take place in community-based settings such as homes, libraries, learning hubs, or alternative provisions.
Mandatory Training RequirementAll Trainee Tutors must complete a compulsory training programme before working independently:
- 30-45 hours of structured training
- Learning modules, guided tasks, and assessed activities
- Covers SEND, SEMH, ADHD, safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and nurture-led tutoring
- Ongoing support throughout training
- Deliver 1:1, nurture-led tutoring to children and young people
- Support engagement, emotional regulation, and learning progress
- Plan and adapt sessions in line with individual learning plans
- Build positive, trusting relationships with learners
- Monitor progress and communicate with families and professionals
- Work flexibly across community and alternative settings
- Patient, calm, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Willingness to complete the full 30-45 hour training programme
- Reliable and professional attitude
- Experience working with children or young people
- Experience with SEND, SEMH, ADHD, or vulnerable learners
- Understanding of the UK curriculum
