Trainee General Insurance Pricing Actuary

Location: Dundrum - Dublin 16
This role sits within the Personal Lines Pricing & Underwriting Department, working alongside a team of actuaries, underwriters and analysts. You will support pricing and portfolio management by developing models, conducting actuarial analyses, and contributing to pricing strategy and risk monitoring.
Key Responsibilities Data & Analysis- Gather, clean and validate data from internal and external sources in line with data, regulatory, and reporting standards.
- Analyse data to identify trends, anomalies and performance issues, escalating insights where appropriate.
- Support review of key MI (claims trends, loss ratios, COR, retention, conversion, business mix).
- Perform scenario analysis to assess the impact of rate changes on profitability and customer metrics.
- Build, maintain and enhance technical pricing models in line with business needs and Group/Regional guidelines.
- Develop actuarial and statistical models, including machine learning techniques such as gradient boosting, to improve pricing accuracy.
- Work with actuarial colleagues to ensure pricing assumptions, methodologies and outputs are appropriate and robust.
- Contribute to claims trending analyses, new pricing techniques and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare clear, timely reports and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Build strong working relationships across underwriting, actuarial, analytics and other key teams.
- Ensure that pricing decisions consider customer impact and align with Intact Insurance Ireland's Personal Lines Pricing Policy and broader risk management frameworks.
- Support business change activities and corporate projects by providing accurate models, forecasts and insights.
- Ensure all work is accurate, reliable and "fit for purpose," with suitable documentation and validation.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory, data governance and internal policy requirements.
- Degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics or a related quantitative field.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Experience with pricing tools (e.g., EMBlem, Radar, Optimiser) and programming languages (R, Python, SQL, SAS) is an advantage.
- Based in Dublin.
