Job Description

Since the Pandemic, audiology services no longer operate drop in clinics, meaning vulnerable members of our community may have to wait weeks for support. Our volunteers visit people in their homes and provide support within a few days, offering hearing aid maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment recommendations. They work closely with the service manager to identify further needs.

As an essential role, you will be expected to make at least one visit every six weeks, lasting approximately one hour. A comprehensive training course will equip you with a technical mind and a willingness to help others. All appropriate expenses will be paid and you will receive full time support from the service manager.

What you will do
  • Conduct home visits to assess hearing aid performance and maintenance needs.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance and recommend suitable equipment.
  • Collaborate with the service manager to present further suggestions.
  • Log visits and report findings as required.
Training provided
  • Full technical training in hearing aid maintenance and tubing troubleshooting.
  • Orientation to the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Ongoing support and supervision from the service manager.
Benefits of volunteering
  • Make a tangible difference in people's lives.
  • Gain experience in audiology and community support.
  • Flexible schedule - one visit every six weeks.
  • All travel and related expenses covered.
