Trading Standards Officer Level 1

About the Role

This apprenticeship role focuses on illicit tobacco and vapes within the Trading Standards Team. It provides the opportunity to develop a career in Trading Standards and to gain the professional qualifications required to become a warranted Trading Standards Officer.

Responsibilities

As a Level 1 Trading Standards Officer you will undertake a wide range of enforcement activities including consumer safety, counterfeit goods, product labelling, weights and measures, under-age sales and animal welfare. Your duties will include prevention initiatives, compliance advice, inspection work and criminal investigations.

Qualifications

• Educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent with GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent.
• Understanding of the work that Trading Standards undertake.
• Experience of following set procedures and keeping accurate records.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, including experience of writing reports.
• IT skills including experience of using Microsoft Word and Excel, databases, social media and the internet.
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
• Fluent English - required under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.
