Job Description
Tool Technician Apprentice - Location: Wotton, Nr Dorking (own transport required).
Key Responsibilities- Assist in cleaning, maintenance, servicing, and repair of production tools.
- Inspect tools for wear or damage and carry out basic repairs or modifications under supervision.
- Help set up and operate standard workshop machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
- Follow detailed engineering drawings and specifications to ensure tooling meets required standards.
- Maintain accurate records and tooling condition reports.
- Document service and repair work electronically, including photographs of issues.
- Support production by completing cleans or repairs in the clean room factory.
- Assist in equipment repairs and breakdowns if required.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards and procedures.
- Participate in team meetings and toolbox talks to develop an understanding of continuous improvement practices.
- Attend relevant training courses and complete academic coursework associated with the apprenticeship.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills.
- Good problem solving abilities.
- Basic understanding of mechanical principles and tooling components (desirable).
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Adaptability to change and a positive attitude toward continuous improvement.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Interest in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or toolmaking.
- Must meet eligibility criteria for an approved apprenticeship programme.
- Program provided via SIGTA - apprenticeship in Toolmaking or Engineering.
- On job training combined with formal study at a partner college or training provider.
- Mentorship from experienced tool technicians and engineers.
