Job responsibilities
  • Responsible for overseeing service delivery from referral to discharge to ensure treatment programmes are planned and delivered effectively.
  • To maintain an awareness of the caseloads of the team to ensure the most effective and efficient service is provided
  • To be responsible for leading clinical governance activity within the team with regard to clinical risk management and for implementing clinical governance policies, standards and guidelines.
  • Responsible for ensuring a high standard of service, delivered within local and national guidelines and within the resources available. To ensure documentation produced by other members of the team is in line with professional and Brainkind standards
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of staff within the service and provide support to staff as required.
  • To provide on-site deputy leadership for the team and take an active role in service developments through the use of service user participation strategies, peer review, audit, and evaluation of outcome measures
  • To be responsible to chair interdisciplinary team meetings and review meetings as appropriate
  • To work with other professionals in managing operational issues of services which cross organisational boundaries
  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate therapy intervention to meet the assessed needs of service users
  • To hold responsibility for managing own caseload within an agreed defined clinical area
  • To monitor attendance of mandatory and other required training for members of team
  • To improve own and others research and development skills through participation in audit projects
  • Facilitating the safe and smooth running of the Service, the post holder is expected to maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally taking on reasonable additional tasks
Person Specification Qualifications
  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
  • Registered with Health and Care Professions Council
  • Current registration with Professional Body /CSP) if appropriate
  • Relevant post-registration training and experience and relevant leadership experience and training in a health/social care setting
  • Member of an appropriate Professional Specialist Interest Group is desirable (ACPIN / ACPIVR)
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Proven experience of working in an appropriate service across healthcare settings
  • Experience of working with clients with moderate to advanced neurological disease and disability
  • Demonstrable experience of evidence-based practice, research, audit and outcome measures
  • Highly specialist knowledge and application of neurological therapy assessments and interventions using complex level clinical reasoning
  • Evidence of managing a team of staff including setting objectives, appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary issues
