Description

Position Overview: Textile & Resilient Flooring Lecturer based in the Port Academy Building, Liverpool. Part time (1 day per week plus desk duties, with flexibility).

Salary: £33,000 - £41,108 FTE (Probationary Part Time scale) with potential market supplement.

Holiday: 50 days annual holiday + 8 bank holidays (FTE).

About the Role

Hugh Baird College is looking to appoint a knowledgeable professional to support the delivery of our Textile and Resilient Flooring Apprenticeships.

Due to the highly specialist nature of the trade, we welcome applications from:

  • Qualified lecturers/assessors
  • Experienced flooring installers with strong industry background who would like to train as a teacher/assessor

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality teaching, skills training and assessment to Textile and Resilient Flooring apprentices, both on campus and through employer visits.
  • Support apprentices in developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to successfully complete their apprenticeship standard.
  • Conduct progress reviews with employers, provide constructive feedback, and ensure all documentation, tracking and evidence portfolios are completed to a high standard.
  • Use the college's virtual learning environment to support independent learning.
  • Promote high expectations, positive behaviour and a safe learning environment for all apprentices.
  • Contribute to curriculum development to ensure our programmes reflect current industry practice and employer needs.
Who We're Looking For

We are interested in hearing from candidates who are either:

Industry-experienced applicants (non-teaching):

  • Significant hands-on experience in textile or resilient flooring installation
  • A desire to pass your skills on to the next generation
  • A willingness to complete teacher training and assessor qualifications

Qualified teaching/assessing professionals:

  • A minimum Level 3 qualification in Textile/Resilient Flooring or equivalent industry experience
  • Assessor qualifications (A1/D32/33 or equivalent) and teaching qualifications (or willingness to work towards them)
  • Experience delivering or assessing flooring apprenticeships (desirable)
