Salary Range: $38.50 - $45 hourly

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Plan, execute, analyze and lead system level and part quality testing for new product development initiatives, establishing baseline processes, cycle time limits, process windows, and troubleshooting all part quality and system defects.
  • Support testing of new applications/materials (e.g., BioResins, rPET, multilayer PET and packaging, medical).
  • Contribute to the development of process guidelines and best practices and assist with establishing pass/fail criteria for new applications as required.
  • Participate in early risk identification efforts through FMEA or similar tools.
  • Review test plans and contribute to improving reliability of data.
  • Challenge design performance and robustness, identify issues and opportunities for improvement up to and including system level.
  • Support customer startups/early adopters through system buy off/acceptance and product launch team support.
REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION
  • BS in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science background preferred.
EXPERIENCE
  • 5+ years of experience testing and troubleshooting complex mechanical systems.
  • 5+ years of experience working in project teams with both external and internal customers.
  • 5+ years experience with plastic processing/part quality optimization; medical molding process experience considered a prerequisite; experience with PET preforms, closures, packaging applications is beneficial.
  • Excellent understanding of fluid power and electrical schematics.
  • Experience with data analysis and writing technical reports.
  • Previous hands on experience operating Husky injection molding machines.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation setup and data acquisition for sensors including pressure transducers, flow meters, thermocouples, thermal cameras, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of plastics processing (medical applications, thin wall packaging, PET, closures, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical and fluid power systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to balance multiple initiatives with unique schedules and needs.
  • Superb analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Fundamental understanding of the injection molding process and plastic resin families, and the auxiliary equipment commonly used.
