Job Description

The Emergency Services Network (ESN) is a huge strategic priority for BT and our commitment to do the best for our customer and our country. You will be responsible for the definition and delivery of Test Strategy, Test Plan and Test Case documentation as well as test execution, governance and reporting. You will need to act as an advocate for Quality Assurance and Integration, engaging other units within Technology and across other functions, in order to communicate test principles, aims and processes.

The successful candidate will be cleared to BPSS (or equivalent) as a minimum. You may even be required to undergo National Security Vetting (e.g. CTC, SC or NPPV).

What you'll be doing
  • Lead end-to-end testing and integration of multiple workstreams, ensuring alignment with industry standards such as TMMi and ISTQB as required. Provide analysis to support informed decision-making with customer experience in mind
  • Oversee integration testing through to live validation, resolving issues and translating risks into actionable insights. Monitor project dependencies and provide risk analysis and recommendations to ensure timely delivery to high quality standards
  • Implement and manage optimised test strategies for a variety of workstreams, with a focus on embedding automation and develop the use of AI
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external suppliers, and partners including the Home Office and Emergency Services stakeholders. Communicate test approaches and manage stakeholder expectations, balancing time, cost, and quality
  • Govern supplier quality and manage escalations to resolution. Plan and manage test resources, promoting best practices and compliance

What we would like to see on your CV
  • Proven understanding of mobile communications (4G LTE, 5G NR, 3GPP and/or Cloud Core)
  • Proficient with test management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) for execution and defect tracking
  • Excellent knowledge of testing methodologies, tools, and best practices (ISTQB and TMMI) as well as layer 3 trace tooling (e.g. Xcal and NetScout or similar tools). Proficient in test automation tools (e.g. Python, Selenium, JMeter, Java Script, Appium)
  • Proven leadership experience in managing on-shore (senior) test engineers and delivering complex solutions in a High-profile strategic Telecommunication or Mission Critical Communications programme
  • Excellent skills in external and supplier stakeholder engagement, with ability to align test goals across teams
