Telecommunications Design Engineer

Salary: Approximately £52,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Design Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and optimise complex telecommunications and network solutions across enterprise and client environments.

The role will involve end-to-end technical design, solution architecture, network planning, technical assurance, implementation support, testing, and optimisation across modern telecom and IP-based infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop telecommunications and network architectures based on business, operational, and client requirements.

• Produce detailed high-level and low-level designs (HLD/LLD), network diagrams, technical specifications, interface definitions, and implementation documentation.

• Design solutions across technologies such as IP/MPLS, LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, VoIP/SIP, fibre networks, wireless connectivity, 4G/5G, and cloud networking.

• Define network topology, routing, switching, connectivity, resilience, redundancy, bandwidth, and capacity requirements.

• Support integration between telecom infrastructure, cloud platforms, enterprise systems, and third-party networks.

• Work with technologies and protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS, DNS, DHCP, SIP, SNMP, MPLS, and VPN technologies.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in telecommunications engineering, network architecture, or network solution design.

• Strong understanding of IP Networking, routing, switching, WAN and carrier-grade network concepts.

• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or equivalent networking technologies.

• Knowledge of MPLS, SD-WAN, VPN, Ethernet, fibre, and IP-based telecommunications infrastructure.

Strong analytical, documentation, client-facing, and technical problem-solving skills are essential.
