Job Title: Preventative Technician

Location: Edinburgh Depot
Salary: £49,647 per year
Shift Pattern: Shift work including days, nights and weekends

Role Summary

The Preventative Technician will work as part of a supportive depot-based maintenance team, carrying out routine maintenance and inspections on Edinburgh Tram rolling stock vehicles.

This role is ideal for an experienced technician who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team, has strong communication skills, and takes pride in delivering high-quality maintenance in a safety-critical environment.

The position provides exposure to a wide range of systems, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, with full support and structured development from other Preventative Technicians.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine and preventive maintenance activities in line with maintenance instructions
• Work on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic vehicle systems
• Conduct vehicle inspections and checks to support fleet availability and reliability
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain safe and efficient depot operations

Essential

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering
• Ability to work shifts (nights and weekends as required)
• Strong safety awareness within a safety-critical environment
• Effective communication skills and a team-focused mindset
