About the role
As a technician 2, we are seeking a reliable and security-cleared Laptop Deployment Engineer to support a customer rollout of new Windows 11 laptops across multiple UK sites. The engineer will follow a structured deployment script provided by the customer to ensure consistent handover and setup of devices for end users. This role involves travelling between locations and requires strong communication, technical proficiency, and professional conduct in secure environments.

Shifts: Monday to Friday (37.5 hours)
Location: 1st week in Southampton and then move to Portsmouth Airport Service Road, Portsmouth
Working Hours: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Contract Duration: 20th October 2025 till 21st November 2025


Roles and Responsibilities:

• Follow a customer-provided deployment script to hand over newly built Windows 11 laptops to staff.
• Ensure each device is correctly configured, tested, and documented during handover.
• Provide basic user guidance and support during deployment.
• Maintain accurate records of completed deployments and escalate any issues.
• Travel between designated sites (Southampton, Portsmouth, Kidlington) as per project schedule.
• Submit required documentation for additional vetting if needed (customer will expedite processing).
• Adhere to all site-specific security protocols and professional standards.

Other stuff we're potentially looking for:

• Valid Security Clearance (SC) is mandatory.
• Experience in laptop deployment, IT support, or hardware rollout projects.
• Familiarity with Windows 11 setup and configuration.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to follow structured instructions and maintain consistency across deployments.
• Willingness to travel and work across multiple locations.
• Professional conduct in secure and sensitive environments.

• A per hour rate, in-scope IR35, of £14.54/hr (PAYE) OR £18.87/hr (via a Hays Approved Umbrella Company).
